Can you believe that I forgot about ordering my August Golden Tote until 12:10 p.m. EST? I was busy blogging and didn't realize that 10 minutes had passed since GT Time until I looked up from my screen and glanced over at my computer's clock. Slightly aghast, I hightailed it over to the Golden Tote website and, miraculously, was able to snag the two items that I wanted. I chose:
The Dreamy Daze Blouse
The Fringed Kimono in black
Several other items tempted me, but I'm glad that I went with these guys.
Did everyone else get their first choices of Golden Tote picks? Share, share, share the details! And if you're new to Golden Tote and want to help me earn free clothes, head over to the website using my referral link: Golden Tote subscription link

My Golden Tote picks for July
Name: Golden Tote
Details: Monthly clothing subscription service that offers two levels: $49 for two or three articles of clothing (you pick one of the pieces, the others are a surprise), or $149 for six or seven articles of clothing (you pick two of the pieces, the others are a surprise). Shipping costs $7.95.
I'm a day late with this, but better late than never, right? Here are the pieces that I chose for my July Golden Tote.
1. Relaxed and refined blouse in orange. I realize that this isn't the most exciting piece that Golden Tote offered, but it's something that I can dress up for work pretty easily, yet also wear with jeans. I also like its cut and its V-neck.
2. Weekender pants in blue. Yay, I finally got these! I've been trying to buy them off the GT trading site, but they seem to go as fast as they're listed. I love palazzo-style pants, and I think that these will be especially fun to wear.
Now comes the waiting game. It seems like I'm always on the tail end of the Golden Tote shipment list (I'm still waiting for the surprise tote that I ordered three weeks ago to be shipped), so I'll be back with a review in, like, September, when these items finally arrive. ;)
I'd love to hear about what other people chose for their Golden Totes! Share your picks here on the blog or on my Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Subscription-Prescription/691018134287609?ref=hl).

My Golden Tote picks for July (spoilers!)
I didn't see much that caught my eye in the June Golden Tote, but I'm going to have a real problem in July because there are WAY too many things that I want! My decision will probably boil down to what items I can actually get in my cart and purchase before they sell out. In any event, here are a few of the July pieces that I'm loving:
So pretty! I love maxi dresses...they're becoming my go-to summer wear.
This top is simple, yet versatile. It comes in other colors, so depending on the cost, I might have to pick up a few from the boutique.
I think that this shirt might be my favorite item. Love the polka dots!
This entire look is too cute. Decisions, decisions....
One more week until the July Golden Tote is available! You can bet that I'll be frantically refreshing my computer at noon EST in the hopes that I'll score the goodies that I want.

Golden Tote review, June 2014
Name: Golden Tote
Details: Clothing subscription service that offers two cost levels: $49 for two or three articles of clothing, or $149 for six or seven articles of clothing.
I think that Golden Tote delivered my June shipment via Pony Express, because I received my clothing about a week or two after most "Toters" received theirs. Consequently, this review is WAAAYYY late, but I still wanted to share in the Golden Tote fun by letting other people know what I received.
I opted for a $49 tote this month, so I received two items. One of them I chose, the other was a surprise selected by Golden Tote.
1. Etched print top. This was the item that I chose, and I love it! I was a little nervous after I ordered it, because I read reviews from people who had already received the shirt and were trying to trade it because it ran small. Luckily, when I finally had my shirt and was able to try it on, I found that it fit perfectly! It's comfortable, and is already in steady rotation among my work outfits. I'm giving myself a metaphorical pat on the back for selecting this.
2. Puella slouchy pants. For my "surprise," I received a pair of the black slouchy pants that you see on the right side of this image (which I'm using instead of a photo of myself wearing the pants because, somehow, my own pair has gone temporarily missing; I set it aside because I'm planning to trade or sell it, and now I can't figure out where I put it.) Anyway, I really don't like these pants. They might be flattering on someone with a thin frame, but I'm a pear shape, and I don't need extra padding around the middle, which is what these pants provide. I think this is the only Golden Tote item that I've received in four months that I absolutely haven't liked, which is a good track record. However, because I received only two items this month, I'm still not thrilled with the shipment. The etched top somewhat makes up for the pants, though, and I'm already looking forward to the July selections!

Golden Tote review, May 2014, Part II
I'm WAAAY behind on posting this, but I figured "better late than never." In a follow-up to my first post, here are the three remaining pieces that I received in my May Golden Tote:
1. Spearmint polka-dot tank. I LOVE this shirt! The blue color is so pretty, and the retro style is right up my alley. It's also very comfortable. Definitely a good find in my tote!
2. Embroidered tassel tank. This was the second of my two picks for the $149 tote. It's a little rumpled in this photo from sitting in its packaging, but I love the style and am happy with my choice.
3. ReneeC chevron top. This top is sooo comfortable, but the pattern just isn't doing it for me. It's a little too colorful for my liking, so I'll be trading it.

My verdict? I was very pleased with the items that I received in my May Golden Tote. If the chevron top had come in a different color, like maybe black and white, I would be a totally happy camper. In any event, I know that May is old news by now and that everyone is looking ahead to their June shipments, so I'll do the same. I ordered a $49 tote this month, and can't wait to see what my surprise item(s) will be!

My June Golden Tote pick
I escaped the Golden Tote madness relatively unscathed this month, and I think that's because I purchased a $49 tote instead of a $149 tote. None of the choices in the larger tote really wowed me this month, plus I ended up buying my entire June Stitch Fix last week (post to follow shortly!), so I figured that I better pace myself in terms of my clothing purchases. Here's what I selected:
It's the etched print top in ivory. This is cute and versatile, so I'm happy with my purchase. Before this month, I've always purchased $149 totes, so I'm curious to see what I'll get in a $49 tote. I'll admit that I do have my eye on the weekender pants and the Naples floral blouse from the $149 tote, so maybe if they're still available by the time my payday rolls around this week, I'll get another tote.
What did everyone else order this month?

Golden Tote review, Part 1, May 2014
I'm a little late in posting my Golden Tote review, and I've already seen some of the amazingly cute things that other Golden Toters have received in their shipments. With that in mind, I'll dispense with the formalities, and post three of the items that I received in my $149 tote. (A torrential downpour where I live has temporarily kept me from taking pictures of the other items, but I'll write a second post about them as soon as I can.)
Before I get started, I'll note that I loved almost everything I received in this month's tote!
1. Classic Puella Maxi in emerald. This was one of the two items that I chose, and I'll admit that when I first tried it on, I was slightly disappointed that it wasn't more fitted. However, the more I wore it, the more I grew to love its loose drapeyness. It's very comfortable, and I'm sure that I'll enjoy wearing it on hot summer days. Plus, the color is gorgeous.
2. Black shift dress. Okay, I'll admit that I don't know the brand of this dress because the tag was so itchy that I went at it with my seam ripper, then lost it. If anyone knows the brand, please let me know in the comments section. In any event, I love this dress. It's comfortable, stylish, and will be a great piece for work or nights on the town.
3. Priddy shift dress. As you can see, I'm wearing this as a tunic top because it's just a hair too short for me to feel comfortable wearing it without pants. Still, I love this piece, too, for all the same reasons as the others--it's comfortable, versatile, and a great look for summer.
So far, Golden Tote is batting three for three. By tomorrow, I'll post the other three items that I received. And, holy cow, I just realized that the next Golden Tote purchasing window is this Monday, June 2! Time flies when you're having fun with Golden Tote. I've been away from my computer the past few days, so I've caught only one or two spoilers, but I'll be hunting for some more so that I can plan my strategy. Buying my items this month was extremely stressful because some of my top picks kept going out of stock by the time I reached checkout, so I'm going to be all about speed this time around!

My Golden Tote purchases, May 2014
Holy mother of gosh, that was the most frustrating Golden Tote experience I've ever had! It's never happened to me before that something I had in my cart was sold out before I had a chance to purchase it, so when the GT website kept popping up the message "not all your items are in stock" or something to that effect, I had to do some detective work to figure out which item wasn't available. (Because, of course, having the website tell me that information would make things too easy.) Turns out I wasn't going to get the tunic top that I wanted. (I tried it in both medium and large.) And now I just headed back over to the GT website and saw that there are no more $149 totes left. What happened this month?!? Guess I should count my lucky stars that I was able to get one, though I'm thinking they'll probably be back in stock shortly.
Anyway, I ended up getting the Classic Puella Maxi in emerald and the Embroidered Tassel Tank in red. I'm pretty happy with these selections; I hadn't considered the Puella Maxi before, but I think that I'll wear it more than I would the tunic, so maybe everything worked out for a reason. I wanted to add on a few more purchases, but after my traumatic experience getting repeatedly denied at checkout, I decided to just place my order as fast as I could.
What did you order for your Golden Tote? Were you able to snag a $149 tote before they ran out?

Get ready for Golden Tote on Monday!
Remember that on this Monday, May 5, Golden Tote releases its May collection! (Like I even had to tell you that, right?) I've caught some spoilers online, and there are a few things I have my eye on. What do you think?
I LOVE the color of this dress. I'm not sure how I feel about the shorter underskirt...I wish the maxi outerskirt was opaque so that the dress didn't need an underskirt, but still, this would be a fun piece for summer.
I've been cleaning out my closet, and I've come to the realization that I need more tank tops, so this shirt definitely has my attention. The color is gorgeous!
I'm a huge fan of tunic tops, and this one looks so comfortable. I think that it would look great with a pair of jeans, or with "dressy" pants for work.
Can't wait until Monday! What are your Golden Tote picks for this month?

Golden Tote spoilers for May
Golden Tote just posted photos of clothing that will be in its May totes. What do you think?
Love this shirt! Tunics are my go-to top, and this one looks so comfy, yet stylish.
At first glance, I wasn't a big fan of this dress, but the more I look at it, the more I like it. I LOVE the skirt, and the top is growing on me.
I'm guessing it's the top that will be on sale here. Too cute! I love the color and the pattern.
Another cute top! This is a perfect piece for summer.
Argghh, I love getting these spoilers, but I kind of hate it too, because it makes me super impatient for the next round of Golden Totes. Counting the days 'til May!

Golden Tote review, April 2014
My Golden Tote arrived today! After I did a discrete "happy dance" on the front porch, I brought it inside and ripped open the package. No time for formalities, let's get down to what I found inside. First up are the items that I selected. (I purchased the $149 tote.)
1. The Getaway Tunic from THML. I wasn't sure how this shirt was going to fit. I have a petite frame, but I'm a bit busty and hippy, so my fear was that I would be busting and hipping out of it. On the contrary, this shirt fits very well, so I was happy about that. The material is also softer and lighter-weight than I thought it would be, which was another nice surprise. My only issue is that the shirt's collar is a little stiff, and sits above my collarbone. I don't like stuff touching my neck (other than scarves, which for some reason I'm okay with), so it might take me a while to get used to that sensation when I'm wearing this shirt. Still, I'm happy with my choice. So far, so good!
2. Cinched silk dress from Beautifully. This one I have mixed feelings about--mostly positive feelings, but a little negative thrown in. I LOVE the style and the print, both of which looked flattering on me. My issue is that the above-the-waist portion is a lot more roomy than I expected and, again, there's a collar-touching-the-neck thing going on. It's a pretty top, though (notice I called it a "top" because it's WAY too short for me to feel comfortable wearing it as a dress), so I'm trying to decide whether I want to have a seamstress alter it, or simply trade it on the Golden Tote Facebook trading page.
And now here are my extras. I knew I was receiving the Woo top because it was promised to the first 1,000 people who placed an order, and I was one of those people.
3. Lace raglan top from Woo. I love this shirt. It's comfortable, it fits well, and it can be dressed up or down. That pretty much covers everything. The shirt gets a "thumbs up" from me!
4. Camisole top from Color Thread. This was a bonus item that Golden Tote included to go with the Woo top. (Being made from lace, the Woo top a bit see-through and all.) I have a few black camis already, but can always use more. This was a nice surprise, and looks great with the top.
5. White top from In Clover. I want to marry this top and have its babies, and then have the babies grow up into more tops like this. Can you tell that I love it? This shirt is EXACTLY my style. Simple, with a vintage, boho vibe to it. It's so comfortable, and will be absolutely perfect for summer. Plus, the embroidery (which you can't see very well in the photo) is beautiful. I think this might be one of the best items I've ever received in a subscription box. I know it's just a white shirt and that I should calm down, but it's surprises like these that keep me loving Golden Tote.
6. Floral top from Under Skies. When I first saw this shirt, I thought, 'Uh...paging the Golden Girls.' (I love the Golden Girls, mind you, but not so much their fashion sense.) However, when I tried the shirt on, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I like it! The cut is flattering, the flowers and colors are fun, and I think it'll look great with a bright handbag and a pair of skinny jeans. Maybe looking like Blanche Devereaux isn't such a bad thing!
7. Blue and white striped dress from Priddy by Puella. Golden Tote is on a roll this month! I love this dress. It'll be a great addition to my summer wardrobe, especially for those afternoons when I'm on my imaginary yacht. Actually, though, it WOULD be cute to wear during trips to the lake. My only caveat is that it hangs a little low, so that I'll either have to get some length taken off the straps, or wear a cami underneath it so that I don't flash the world. That little pop of color at the bottom, though...LOVE! Such a cute piece.
I loved my Golden Tote this month! With the (possible) exception of the silk dress, these pieces are all winners in my book. I'll be keeping on eye on the Interwebs to see what everyone else got. I think half the fun of Golden Tote is getting to bond with other GT addicts over the clothing that we receive!
If you want to try out Golden Tote, I'd be ever so obliged if you used my referral link to place your order: Golden Tote subscription link. The April tote will be available until Monday, May 5. On that day, May's Golden Tote goes on sale.
Also, if you haven't already signed up for my drawing to receive a FREE $49 Golden Tote, be sure to do so here: Golden Tote giveaway link. I'll be drawing a winner on May 1. If I get over 1,500 entries, I've decided to up the ante and offer a $149 tote for free, so if you've already entered but haven't yet completed all your chances to win, be sure to do so. And pass the word on to your friends!

April Golden Tote is live! What did you buy?
As of now, the April Golden Tote is open and ready for business! Did you place your order? What did you buy? Luckily, my tax return arrived in time for me to get the $149 tote. Here's what I chose:
Cinched Silk Dress. Cinched styles are flattering on me, and I loved this print. The dress is 100-percent silk, so it'll need to be dry-cleaned, which made me hesitate, but ultimately I went ahead and got it.
The Getaway Tunic. This is just so darn cute. I love the summery style.
According to Golden Tote, the first 1,000 people to place an order will receive the Woo Lace Raglan Top. Since I placed my order about two minutes after the sale went live, I'm pretty sure this will be in my tote. I love it, though I'll definitely be styling the top differently than it appears on the model above.
And BTW, here's what the tote itself will look like:
Can't wait to receive my stuff! Who else has ordered her Golden Tote already? What did you buy?

Golden Tote spoilers for April
I'm in trouble. Golden Tote released photos of some of the clothing that will be available in its April totes, and already I see several pieces that I love. I told myself that I wasn't going to buy a $149 tote this time, but I might be forced to (and, yes, I realize that the only person forcing me to do it is myself). Here are a few pieces that I especially love (photos taken from the Golden Tote website):
Pretty floral dress
Pretty tunic top
Pretty sailboat sweater
Pretty lace top (though I'd be wearing more than just a bra underneath it)

Golden Tote Review, March 2014
Golden Tote is a monthly service that lets you choose between one of two options (or both options, I guess, if you're having an especially lucrative month in terms of cash flow). You can spend $49 for two or three articles of clothing worth as much as $200 (you choose one of the items, while Golden Tote chooses the others), or you can spend $149 for five to seven articles of clothing worth as much as $600 (you choose two of the items, while Golden Tote chooses the others). The items come to you packed inside a tote bag with gold print (hence the name "Golden Tote").
I had heard good things about Golden Tote, so I decided to give it a try this month. I sat at my computer, prepared to buy the cheaper option, when I realized that I didn't like the selection of clothing offered for that tote. (You get fewer choices for the $49 tote than you do for the $149 tote.) I hesitantly traveled over to the $149 section and immediately saw two pieces that I loved. I think that, to prevent myself from ruminating too much about what I was doing, my brain went blank for the few minutes it took me to enter my payment information and press "submit." (Luckily, I had pulled in some extra "fun money" from side jobs that week, so I could rationalize my purchase and not feel too guilty about it.) Then I sat back, slightly shaken but excited about what I would receive in my tote.
I got the tote this week. Here's what I found inside, along with my comments:
1. Love Stitch open chevron cardigan. This was one of the items I selected. It's very cute, super soft, and comfortable. Definitely a good addition to my spring wardrobe.
2. Thread & Supply denim jacket. This was the second item I chose, and I love it. The sleeves are made of a soft, sweatshirt-like fabric, and it's a really comfortable, easy-to-throw-on piece. I've already worn it a few times, and I got it just a few days ago.
3. Priddy by Puella dress. I wasn't too sure about this one at first, as I tend to like loose, drapy clothing. When I tried it on, though, I found that it fit me almost perfectly and was more flattering than I thought it would be. I wouldn't wear this as a dress (more like a tunic top), but I think it'll be cute for summer.
4. Lumiere sweater. I probably wouldn't buy this if I were in a store, but I like it. It's a good, basic piece to wear with jeans, and it fits well.
5. Porridge t-shirt. I LOVE THIS. Golden Tote promised that the first 1,000 people to place an order this month would get a t-shirt from Porridge, in one of several prints. I was one of the first 1,000, so I knew I'd be getting a t-shirt, but I loved the duck pattern so much that I emailed the company to ask if they could make sure that I got this specific shirt and not one of the other prints. They obliged, and I'm so happy! The photo shows the back of the shirt. The front is a solid gray v-neck. It's very soft and oversized and comfortable. In fact, I'm wearing it right now. Did I mention that I love it?
6. Under Skies top. This was the only "miss" for me. I didn't hate this top, but I didn't love it. The lace sleeves were kind of itchy, and I didn't like the material the top was made from. Plus, the cut was a little too boxy for my taste. Luckily, I checked out the Golden Tote Trading Group on Facebook, and traded this top for a cardigan that had been released in last month's box. A win for me, and a win for the person who wanted this top!
All in all, I was very happy with my first Golden Tote. My budget won't let me spend $149 on it every month, but the cheaper tote is in my price range, and I could see myself splurging on the larger tote every so often.
