MissionCute review, July 2014

Name: MissionCute
Details: Support a different charity every month while receiving a box that comes with at least two items made by artisans and small businesses.
Price: $29

For its July box, MissionCute donated 50 percent of its net proceeds to LoveGrows, a organization consisting of churches, businesses, families, and individuals that have pooled their resources to help orphans in Uganda.

1. "You Are Beautiful" sticker from Shawna Armstrong (retail value: $3). This sticker is gorgeous! I love the colors, the design, the message...everything about it is amazing. I can't wait to find a spot for it in my house.

2. "Love" necklace (retail value: $22). This is a MissionCute exclusive, and another amazing item! Is it repetitive for me to say that I love it? Well, I do. I love the "Love" necklace.

3. Canvas tote bag from Who Doesn't Want That (retail value: $6). I live about 80 miles from the nearest lake of any size (Lake Michigan, in case anyone's wondering), but I do love nautical-themed things, so I'm all about this tote.

4. "Bee Happy" card from By Samantha! (retail value: $10). MissionCute rounded out its July shipment with another win! This is a cute card, and I can't help but be happy when I look at it.

----------

Once again, I loved, loved, loved every item in my MissionCute shipment. I also love, love, love the fact that my purchase of this box helps people in need!

MissionCute review, June 2014

Name: MissionCute
Details: Support a different charity every month while receiving a box that comes with at least two items made by artisans and small businesses.
Price: $29

This month, fifty percent of the net proceeds from MissionCute went to the Vasculitis Foundation, which provides a community for victims of this rare disease that affects blood vessels, arteries, veins, and capillaries. I love the fact that, every month, MissionCute couples its array of artisanal goodies with efforts to support worthy charities.

Ooooh, I'm liking what I'm seeing!

1. Coin purse from Baby Mama Sew Shop (retail value: $8). This purse is adorable! I love the print, and I have trouble keeping tabs of my quarters, dimes, and nickels, so this is a great start to the box.

2. Mint strawberry summer scarf (retail value: $16). This is exclusive to MissionCute, and I love it! The colors are pretty, and the scarf itself is lightweight, so it'll be perfect to wear on cooler summer days.

3. YAY coasters from Red Bird Ink (retail value: $5). These will be perfect to use with a glass of wine. Every time I'll lift the glass to take a drink, I'll see the word, "Yay," which, in my opinion, is an appropriate expression to communicate when one is drinking a glass of wine :)

4. Drink sleeve from Joejacket (retail value: $6.99). The goods just keep on coming! Love this drink sleeve, and now I'll be saving lots of trees when I use it instead of the disposable sleeves that come with my morning coffee.

5. "Dream" infinity bracelet (retail value: $12). The information pamphlet that I received with my MissionCute shipment didn't state who made this bracelet, but it's very pretty. I love the combination of the blue and brown hues, as well as the metal charms to which the strings attach.

----------

I LOVED my MissionCute box this month! Every single item was adorable, and is something that I'll use. This is my second month of receiving MissionCute shipments, and I'm so glad that I subscribed.

MissionCute review, May 2014

MissionCute is a subscription box with, well, a mission. Fifty percent of the net proceeds from each box go to a different nonprofit every month. The cost starts at $29, and boxes contain items made by independent artisans. When I learned about MissionCute, I was eager to join. However, after I checked out the company's website, I found that I would have to sit on a waiting list before I could subscribe. Luckily, I was on the list for only a few days when I received an invitation. I ponied up my money and anticipated what I would receive.

The box arrived late last week.

So excited!

It looks like a party!

1. Earrings from Peachtree Lane (retail value: $8). These earrings are sooo delicate and tiny. They're very cute, and I love the color. I don't know how much I'll wear them, but I'll keep them around to put on every so often.

2. Lip Gleem from Just Neem (retail value: $3.50). I can always use lip treatments. I wish this one wasn't "Grapefruit" flavor, or scent, or whatever you want to call it, as I'm not a fan of grapefruit, but I can survive.

3. Cocktail napkins from p. press (retail value: $6.75). These are cute, but I don't throw a lot of parties at which I could use them, so in our house they'll probably be used for things like pizza and burgers.

4. Hair ties from BohoBands (custom-made for MissionCute; retail value: $5.99). Love these hair ties; I tend to lose pony-tail holders, so now that I have some pretty ones, maybe I'll keep a better eye on them. In addition, I received a coupon for 20 percent off my next purchase at the BohoBands website.

5. Pencils from The Carbon Crusader (retail value: $8). These are great, but after taking a peek at The Carbon Crusader website and seeing all the phrases that are available on the company's pencils, I wish this set said something other than "I Heart You Mom." Not that I don't heart my mom...I do, and I realize that I'm supposed to give these to her. However, if I did give them to her, I think she'd just make a confused face and say, "uh...okay, thanks." (She's not a novelty pencil type of person.) So now I'll be using pencils that say "I Heart You Mom," and I don't have kids, but maybe I can pretend that my dogs and cats gave them to me. Yeah, that's what I'll do. And I'll end my stream-of-consciousness rambling right now.

----------

Overall, I was happy with my first MissionCute shipment. I liked everything that I received, though I will say that none of the items overwhelmed me. That's okay, though, there's always next month. Plus, how can I be upset when my purchase of the box helps a charity, in this case, The Eli Home in Anaheim, California? I'll be keeping my MissionCute subscription, and can't wait for June's box!
