Julep Maven review, June 2014

Even though I have enough nail polish to last for the next five years, I always love receiving my monthly Julep Maven shipment. For $19.99, I get a box with two Julep polishes and a nail product. Here's what I received this month.

The "extras"...coupon codes and Pixy Stix!

Here are this month's colors: Ariana (on the left) and Bergen (on the right).  I love both of them! Ariana is a very pretty, glittered purple polish, while Bergen is a slate gray hue with slight blue undertones.

The bonus item was a smoothing base coat. Can't wait to try this out!

I loved my Julep hues this month. I'm not a big fan of bright, neon colors on my nails, so these shades definitely caught my eye. I'll be breaking out the nail polish remover to get rid of my current color and will be trying out these hues soon!

Julep Maven review, May 2014

My May shipment from Julep Maven arrived a few days ago; life has been a little crazy this week, so I just now finally have the chance to review it. Away we go...

The suspense builds...

Tah-dah!!!

The color on the left is called "Ramona," and the color on the right is called "Maddy." I love both of them! "Ramona" is similar to "Radiant Orchid," which is the Pantone Color of the Year, so I'll be looking especially trendy when I wear that one.

My bonus gift was a "Plie Wand," and can I just say...where has this thing been all my life? Essentially, it's a wand that you can use to apply Julep polish with precision. When you're using your dominant hand to paint, you can hold the Plie Wand like you would a pen, which helps you apply the polish much more smoothly than is possible with a regular wand. When you need to use your non-dominant hand to apply polish, you can bend the Plie Wand's handle to give yourself more stability. I am HORRIBLE at applying polish on my own...seriously, I go to the nail salon to have someone do it for me, then recruit my husband's help to touch up the areas that start to flake off after a few days...but with this wand, I'm really excited to try it on my own.

Julep Maven review, April 2014

Julep Maven is probably the most popular nail-polish subscription box out there. Every month, for $19.99, Julep sends you two bottles of color, and an additional makeup item or supply. I received my first box last month, so this review is of my second box, which I received a few days ago.

As usual, the packaging was adorable (and I received a piece of candy).

Here are the shades that I received. (Each bottle has a retail value of $14.) The orange color is called "Mariska" and the pink is called "Caitlin." I wasn't quite sure how I felt about them at first, as I typically don't go for bright colors. The more I look at them, though, the more I like them. I won't be wearing bright pink or bright orange on my nails every day, but they're fun spring hues to roll out every so often.

My makeup item was a pore-minimizing blush in the color "Peach Bellini" (retail value: $24). I don't wear blush, so I'll be gifting this one.

I wasn't floored by the colors I received this month, but I do like the fact that Julep exposes me to nail hues that I wouldn't normally try. And you can't beat the value: over $50 worth of beauty products for 20 bucks. Julep Maven is especially awesome because your first box is free!
