POPSUGAR Must Have review, June 2014

Name: POPSUGAR Must Have
Details: Get more than $100 worth of accessories, home products, food, and beauty supplies every month.
Price: $39.95

I decided to cancel a few of my "lifestyle" subscription boxes (e.g., Fancy, Socialbliss) because they're among the more costly boxes that I receive, and I wanted to free up funds to buy other subscriptions. However, I'll be keeping my POPSUGAR subscription because, month after month, I've been consistently happy with the items that I receive in it. Here's what arrived in my June shipment.

1. "The One and Only" by Emily Giffin (retail value: $28). I was excited to see a book included in the box! This particular one isn't my cup of tea, so I'll probably sell it on Amazon, but I still think that it's refreshing to find reading material among the usual array of body products and jewelry.

2. SACHAJUAN Shiny Citrus body lotion (retail value: $24). I have perpetually dry skin, so I can use all the lotion that I can get. This product gets a "thumbs up" from me.

3. Turkish-T beach towel (retail value: $32). I don't head to the beach very often, but when I do, I'll be sure to bring along this towel! I love the color and the pattern...much more stylish than the typical beach towel.

4. You Smell lemon wet wipes (retail value: $6). They're wet wipes...not sure what else I can say about them...but I do like this product. I'll throw the wipes in my purse for those times at work when I'm eating the fantastic barbecue chicken sandwiches that I occasionally buy for lunch and need a little cleanup afterwards.

5. Lollies basics hair ties (retail value: $8). It's a good thing that I have long hair, because I've received approximately eight million hair ties in subscription boxes throughout the past few months. These are cute, though, and as I tend to misplace hair ties, they'll definitely come in handy.

6. One Potato Two Potato Hawaiian BBQ chips (retail value: $2). Oh my gosh, these chips were delicious. That's pretty much all I have to say about the matter.

7. Native Union $15 gift card. Native Union sells handsets, speakers, and other "techie" devices. The items on the company's website are beautifully designed, but everything costs more than $15, and I can't justify spending money on something I don't really need just to save fifteen bucks on it. Still, for someone who is really into gadgets, this is a great addition to the box.

----------

I was really happy with my POPSUGAR Must Have box this month! It helped make up for the depressing experience that was my Coco Rocha Fancy Box. (I'm still mad about that one, grrrrr.) Except for the voucher, I'll use everything that I received from POPSUGAR, and I consider that a success.

POPSUGAR Must Have review, May 2014

I received my May POPSUGAR Must Have box in the mail yesterday. This is one of the boxes that I especially look forward to receiving, as it contains an array of lifestyle and beauty items worth over $100 (and I pay only $39.95 for it). I've been really happy with previous POPSUGAR boxes, so let's see what this month brought.

Here we go:

1. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pool Boy Nail Lacquer (retail value: $10). First, I LOVE the name of this company, having some minor OCD tendencies myself. Second, I love this color! It's different---such a pretty blue, and a good look for summer.

2. Smell Bent St. Tropez Dispenser (retail value: $45). This perfume is amazing. I'm very picky about my fragrances, and usually deem various perfumes as "too spicy" or "too much like fruit" or "too old lady-ish." This, however, has an awesome scent. It has a hint of coconut, but it's more nuanced than that. I can't really describe the scent other than to say that it's like a really appealing sun tan lotion. No wait, it smells like the beach. And like summer. Anyway, I loved it.

3. Zing Anything Citrus Zinger (retail value: $17). This was a bit of a disappointment only because I already have a water bottle (received in a Coco Rocha Fancy Box) that's very similar to this one. Still, I suppose a girl can have more than one water bottle that lets her infuse her drink with juice straight from the fruit. It's a cool product, and I'm sure I'll put it to use.

4. Kerry Cassill Eye Mask (retail value: $24). This is so soft, and very cute! I love the print. I'm not sure how much I'll use it, as I can sleep like a log even in the middle of direct sunlight, but I'll definitely keep it around.

5. Tone It Up DVD (retail value: $15). Ugh, this one was a turkey for me. I'm not a "one-day fat blast" kind of girl, and I've long since accepted that my days of flat abs are over. I wanted to tell these women, with their spray tans and six-packs, to get out of my POPSUGAR box. My dislike intensified when I found that the DVD was so shiny that I couldn't get a good photo of it. Still, I'm sure other subscribers loved this item, so to each her own.

6. Hi I'm Skinny Sticks, Multi-Grain Sweet Onion flavor (retail value: $4). POPSUGAR redeemed itself with this snack. You can't really tell from the photo, but this is a fairly good-sized (i.e., not trial-sized) bag of snacks. And though I'm not a fan of onions, I found these sticks to be delicious!

----------

With the exception of the DVD (and, I'll be honest, I'm never a fan of any fitness product that I receive from POPSUGAR), I loved this box. I'll use almost everything in it, and I think that the Smell Bent perfume is one of the best items that I've ever received from a subscription box! POPSUGAR Must Have review, April 2014

Last week was a slow one in terms of subscription boxes. I went a few days without receiving one, and entered a minor panic mode because I didn't want to go too many days without posting a review on this blog. Then Friday arrived, and so did three boxes at my doorstep. According to the tracking numbers I've been given from various sub box companies, three more will be arriving today. So now I'm stocked up and ready to go.

Today, I'm reviewing the April box from POPSUGAR Must Have. POPSUGAR is a website devoted to fashion and lifestyle news, and every month it curates a Must Have box full of, well, fashion and lifestyle items. Each box costs $39.95, and contains a minimum of $100 worth of product, so it's always a fun box to receive. Here's what I found inside the latest arrival:

1. BlueAvocado (Eco) Shopper (retail value: $25)--this is a great little bag. The top picture shows what it looks like folded up, while the bottom picture shows it unfolded. (I guess you could have picked up on that without me telling you, though.) It's made from plastic bottles, believe it or not, and is surprisingly sturdy. I can definitely see myself using it at the grocery store, or maybe bringing it along on day trips during the summer.

2. Too Faced Natural Eyes (retail value: $36)--my daily makeup routine consists of putting on foundation, swiping my lashes with mascara, and maybe applying a coat of lip gloss. I don't typically wear eye shadow, but when I do wear it, these are the colors that I use. It's a nice, neutral palette, so I'll be breaking out these shades on special occasions when mascara alone won't do.

3. Graphic Image Pocket Notes (retail value: $20)--the color of this notebook is lighter in person than it appears on the photo. I'll probably keep this in my purse for those moments when I need a piece of paper and can't find any.

4. Caldrea Rosewater Driftwood Hand Soap (retail value: $10.50)--soap is always a good thing to have on hand (pun intended). This has a nice scent, and will be a useful addition to our bathroom counter.

5. Fresh Pastry Stand Totally Awesome Tea Towel Set (retail value: $18)--these towels are, dare I say, totally awesome, but they don't really go with the decor in our kitchen, so I'll be gifting them.

6. NatureBox POPSUGAR Must Have Mix (retail value: $5)--this is a full-size package of trail mix prepared specifically for POPSUGAR by the subscription company NatureBox. It contains almonds, soybeans, corn, and cranberries, and is super delicious. It's making me think that maybe I should subscribe to NatureBox, too!
